The Tooling Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, revision, and polishing of all injection molds used in the production process. This includes both in-house and vendor-completed tooling work. The technician plays a vital role in supporting production through timely mold changes, tool improvements, and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities
- Evaluate and provide design feedback for all new injection mold tool builds
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on all in-house injection tooling
- Select and coordinate with external vendors for tooling repair and modification
- Obtain quotes for in-house and outsourced tooling repairs or revisions
- Perform insert changes and adjustments for molds as needed
- Inspect and approve all completed vendor tooling work before processing payments
- Assist the maintenance team with precision machining projects as necessary
- Maintain accurate records of tooling expenses, repairs, and revisions
- Polish or inspect molds while they are in the press, as needed
- Troubleshoot tooling issues and direct repair efforts accordingly
- Support machine/tool troubleshooting during production as needed
Required Education & Experience
- Associate’s degree in a technical field or completion of a tooling/mold-making apprenticeship (or equivalent experience)
- 3–5 years of experience in injection mold maintenance or related tooling field
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Strong ability to diagnose and resolve mold-related problems
- Proficiency in using manual mills, grinders, cut-off saws, and other precision tools
- Familiar with mold insert changes and general injection mold operations
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Able to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday
- Must have dexterity to use hand tools and equipment for assembly and repair work
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills
