The Material Handler is responsible for safe, accurate, and efficient movement of items within the manufacturing plant. This is a key role to support production, by ensuring that items are tracked, delivered, and returned to the appropriate locations. The material handler will help in unloading inbound freight, locating materials into the racking, loading production floors, and staging orders for shipping.

Responsibilities

  • Transport raw materials, components, and finished products throughout the facility using forklifts, pallet jacks, or by hand
  • Load and unload materials from trucks or production areas safely and efficiently
  • Deliver materials to appropriate production staging areas in accordance with production schedules
  • Maintain accurate records of material movements, inventory levels, and storage locations using the ERP system
  • Assist in staging materials for upcoming production runs and returning unused materials to inventory
  • Support inventory control processes, including cycle counts and physical inventories
  • Follow safety procedures for material handling and ensure proper labeling and storage of materials
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
  • Communicate with plant manager, production control, logistics, and production teams to ensure timely material flow
  • Assist with shipping and receiving duties as needed

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 1–2 years of experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment preferred

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified (preferred)
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks safely
  • Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and record keeping
  • Familiarity with inventory systems (e.g., ERP or MRP software) is a plus
  • Able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail and organization
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting
  • Good communication skills and a positive attitude
